Yogi Bhajan (1929-2004)
To millions of people around the world, Yogi Bhajan, was a dynamic teacher and one of the Sikhs’ great leaders.
In 1969, he left India to bring to America the yogic and meditative technology of Kundalini Yoga which he mastered at an early age.
As a global leader, Yogi Bhajan, championed world peace and strongly promoted inter-religious dialogue. In June 1980, he established the annual International Peace Prayer Day. This day of prayer draws many prominent national and international figures of religion, politics and humanity.
Yogi Bhajan was a management consultant representing industries as diverse as health food manufacturing (Yogi Tea and Peace Cereal) and security services (Akal Security).
In his home state of New Mexico, Yogi Bhajan had been a trusted personal advisor to governors and other distinguished leaders.
He was one of four humanitarians to receive a Joint Congressional Resolution by the United States Congress honoring his life’s work and teachings. The other recipients were Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King and Pope John Paul II.
Yogi Bhajan passed away in October 6, 2004.
